Town Announces New Labor Advisory Board

 

            Manhasset, NY - North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the Town Board unanimously voted this month to establish a Labor Advisory Board to advise the Town on issues important to the labor community.  These issues will include topics such as the establishment of apprenticeships programs, the enforcement of prevailing wage provisions, and negotiations that involve project labor agreements.

 

            "This Labor Advisory Board will be an essential tool in addressing the labor-related issues throughout the Town," said Supervisor Jon Kaiman.  "It is important that the Town take an active role in protecting the rights of working men and women in our communities."

 

            Members of the Labor Advisory Board  will include: Jack Kennedy, Building & Construction, Trades Council of Nassau and Suffolk Counties; Billy Weitzman, Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters; Jack Torpy, Steamfitters Local 638; Bill Duffy, Engineers Local 138; Steve Flanagan, Laboreres Local 66 (Gerneral Building Laboreres); Gary LaBarbera, Teamsteres Local 283 (Building Materials Derivers); Don Fiore, Electrical workers Local 25; Frank Pellegrino, Plumbers Local 200; Lauren Corcoran, SEIU Local 1199; John D'Urso, Retail Wholesale & Department Store Union Local 338; Ron Caputo & Jimmy Rogers, District Council 9, Painters & Allied Trades; Nick LaMorte, Nassau Region; Frank Ferreyra, Fraternal Order of Police and Anthony Speelman, United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 1500.
