Town Announces New Superintendent

at Harbor Links

Port Washington, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman announced recently that Peter R. Cash, former Golf Course Superintendent at the Black Course at Bethpage State Park, has been hired as the new Golf Course Superintendent at the Town's Harbor Links Golf Course.

"We are very excited that Peter Cash has joined our team at Harbor Links," said Supervisor Kaiman.  "With his knowledge and experience I am convinced that we will be able to take Harbor Links to new heights of excellence."

As Superintendent at the Bethpage Black course during the 2002 US Open, Mr. Cash was responsible for several of the courses major improvements prior to the tournament, including: converting fairways, construction of tees and bunkers, and oversaw the daily preparation of the Black Course for the 2002 Open.  In addition, Mr. Cash's tournament experience also includes: the New York State Open, 1998-2003; the Metropolitan Open, 2001; the Long Island Open, 1999 – 2001 and 2003; the LIGA Public Links Championship, 1999 – 2003; and the Senior PGA Tour's Northville Long Island Classic, 1998, 1999.  Mr. Cash received a Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York at Cobleskill and Cornell Turfgrass Management Short Course.

North Hempstead built Harbor Links on the former Morewood property, site of an old sand mine. Almost a century of intensive sand mining left the land ravaged and scarred, and it sat that way until this administration decided to create our Town's first public golf course.  For more information and tee times please call (516) 767-4816.
