North Hempstead Hosts Annual Recycled Artwork Contest

All submissions due December 1


North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board have announced that the Town will be hosting the 8th Annual Recycled Artwork Contest. The deadline for submissions for the contest are on Thursday, December 1.

The Recycled Artwork Contest is a chance for students to harness their creativity to promote recycling in our schools and local communities in an effort to better the environment. The Town invites young minds to come together and collaborate with one powerful message in mind: Recycle, Reuse, and Rethink.

The Recycled Artwork Contest, has featured hundreds of entries and thousands of participants. All students in grades K-12 in Town of North Hempstead School Districts or who live in the Town are welcome to participate in the contest. Submissions must be made by a student or group of students and there is a limit of one submission per student or group. All entries must use reclaimed, recyclable materials made of metals, paper, rubber, plastic or cloth (no glass).

All artwork must be labeled and entered by December 1, 2016. Entries can be submitted at the North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 141 Garden Street, Westbury or at the Solid Waste Management Authority Office at 802 West Shore Road, Port Washington from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Entries will be judged by the North Hempstead Arts Advisory Committee. This year, the winners of the Recycled Artwork Contest will be honored at North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center on Monday, December 12 at a special reception at 6 p.m. and all entries will be displayed from December 12, 2016 through January 1, 2017 in the gallery at North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center.
