Nearly 100 New Hyde Park Dogs Attend Town’s Pool Party

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board welcomed nearly 100 dogs and their owners to Clinton G. Martin Park on September 8th as the Town hosted its first ever Doggie Pool Party. With the summer season coming to an end, and the pool closing for the season, the partygave dogs whose owners live in the New Hyde Park Special Park District the unique opportunity to swim in the Town’s pool before it is drained. The Town also issued 33 dog licenses at the eventthrough the office of Town Clerk Wayne Wink.

Supervisor Bosworth said of the occasion, “It was certainly a rousing success. We look forward to future doggie pool parties here at Clinton G. Martin Park as well as other Town pools in order to open this up to more communities in our Town.”

This event was just part of the Town’s mission to remain dog-friendly, which includes an ongoing pilot program at North Hempstead Beach Park, Mary Jane Davies Green and Tully Park that allows owners to bring their dogs on leashes on the grounds of those 3 parks. The Town also conducted a summer-long public awareness campaign where residents were warned of the dangers of leaving adog in a hot car on a summer day. On August 11th, the Town Board voted unanimously to approve an amendment to the Town Code making it a violation for anyone to leave an unattended animal in a vehicle without sufficient ventilation or water for a prolonged period of time.
