Supervisor Bosworth Presents Community Champion Award
Town honors Richard Bentley from Manhasset as the first “Community Champion”

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board were proud to present the first ever Community Champion Award to Council of Greater Manhasset Civic Associations President Richard Bentley at Manhasset High School during a ceremony on November 12th.

“Richard Bentley is Mr. Manhasset,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “He is a wonderful example of what it means to give back to one’s community. Richard has devoted time and energy to making his hometown a better place to live for everyone and I am so proud to present him with the first ever Community Champion Award on behalf of the Town of North Hempstead.”

The Community Champion Award highlights the actions of local citizens such as civic leaders, community activists, spiritual leaders, law enforcement personnel and others. The Town encouraged residents to nominate individuals who they believe have made a significant achievement or had a substantial impact on the Town and/or their community.

Bentley was honored based on his work in helping to expand the Civic Association’s website (www.manhassetcivic.org) and maintaining open channels of communication with the County and Town to better serve residents. As the president of the Council of Greater Manhasset Civic Associations, he has been instrumental in working with the Town on many important projects, such as Manhasset Valley Park, Plandome Pond Project, and the Plandome Road repaving and lane lengthening projects near Northern Boulevard.
