North Hempstead, NY – TThe North Hempstead Town Board held their public meeting at Town Hall on June 10. Here are some of the highlights:

Charging stations

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board unanimously approved a state grant application with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) that would create charging stations along high traffic corridors on Long Island. The Town of North Hempstead is the municipality leading the grant applications, along with the towns of Hempstead, Oyster Bay in Nassau County and the towns of Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, Babylon and Brookhaven in Suffolk County.

The grant would provide $500,000, with an additional $125,000 in funds supplied by the municipalities. Part of the grant would cover the cost of a feasibility study to determine where the charging stations would be located.

In other news, the board also approved:

  • Two dock applications for various properties located in Kings Point, following a public hearing;
  • A resolution authorizing an agreement with Nassau County for the Community Development Block Grants program.
