Supervisor Bosworth to Celebrate Children’s Book Week Event at Dolphin Bookshop
Book signing by best-selling children’s author & Great Neck resident Gordon Korman

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth will be celebrating the kick-off to Children’s Book Week (May 4-10) at The Dolphin Bookshop, 299 Main Street in Port Washington, as the store hosts a talk and book-signing on Sunday, May 3 at 4 p.m. by New York Times bestselling children’s author Gordon Korman.

“This promises to be a wonderful event that will help inspire the joy of reading,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “Dolphin Bookshop is such a treasure in the Town of North Hempstead and they do so much to encourage young people to read.”

Korman, a resident of Great Neck, is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of various titles in the phenomenally popular The 39 Clues series. He has written more than 60 books for children and young adults, including his bestselling Swindle series, which was released as a television movie by Nickelodeon.

The Dolphin Bookshop in Port Washington is one of only four official sites in New York State that will be organizing weeklong book and author-related events in celebration of Children’s Book Week, which runs May 4-10. This year’s theme is Reading Takes You Places. The Dolphin Bookshop is an independent bookstore that prides itself on being a place where members of the community can visit, host book clubs, see live music, or enjoy a good book. Over the years, the Dolphin Bookshop has hosted authors including J.K. Rowling, Madeline Albright, and Tomie dePaola.

At the kick-off, Supervisor Bosworth will present a citation to Korman in recognition of his long standing career as an author and champion of childhood literacy.
