North Hempstead to Host 4th Annual “Salute to Veterans” Breakfast

North Hempstead, NY – To show the Town of North Hempstead’s appreciation for the sacrifices its military veterans have made for our country, Supervisor Judi Bosworth and town officials will host the 4th annual “Salute to Veterans” Breakfast on October 9th, at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park.

The free breakfast for veterans from all branches of the military has become a demonstration of the town’s gratitude towards its veterans. Last year’s breakfast welcomed more than 200 guests, including veterans of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Desert Storm, and the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. This year, various veterans’ agencies that help raise awareness and support for the services and entitlements available to veterans will be on hand.

The Town continues to do its best in order to recognize military veterans. It was declared a “Purple Heart Town” just this past June to honor those veterans who have been wounded or killed while serving their country. Additionally, the Town recently re-established a Veterans Advisory Committee in order to provide a greater voice to veterans in their local government.

“Every year this breakfast allows our Town to thank the veterans of our country’s military. Our servicemen and women sacrifice so much so that we can live in freedom,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “It’s our honor to make this small gesture of thanks for all that they have done.”

The two-hour event beginning at 9 a.m. will feature a number of Town Officials and veterans’ advocates. To reserve a seat or learn more about the event, please call 311 or visit www.northhempsteadny.gov.
